You could have taken the Cleveland Browns at +3000 odds at one point in the game against the Green Bay Packers when they were down 10-0 late in the game.

Cleveland’s offense held it back big time in what was a magnificent performance by the defense at home to come away with a 13-10 win. The Browns found some late success in the game on special teams with a blocked kick, and then shortly after Grant Delpit intercepted a pass from Packers QB Jordan Love. A 55-yard field goal by Andre Szmyt was the game-winner, and that was the difference.

Browns ended one idea a Packers starter had for their 2025 season

“The goal is to keep it going,” Walker said after the Packers defeated the Washington Commanders in Week 2. “I think we can go undefeated, honestly… Pound for pound, I look at these teams, and I don’t really see who’s better than us, honestly. That’s why I can say that so confidently.”

There’s nothing wrong with confidence, but saying these things in press conferences after just the second game in the season probably wasn’t the right move. Cleveland gave the Packers their first loss of the season just one game later, and it wasn’t a game that would have been close if the Browns could have found a way to move the ball in the first three quarters. Green Bay didn’t walk into Cleveland with a team that looked night and day better than the Browns outside of the quarterback position.

The Browns haven’t had a ton of bounces go their way over what has been decades of losing for the most part. That happened on Sunday in Week 3 when they made clutch plays down the stretch in irregular ways, such as a blocked field goal on a short field goal. Cleveland had 221 total yards of offense in Week 3, and just 125 of those yards came through the air.

Cleveland wants to be a team that can get back to running the ball, and rookie RB Quinshon Judkins did a great job of that with 94 rushing yards on 18 runs. Combining that with how good the defense is, and that is the Browns’ recipe for wins this season more often than not. Oftentimes, it has been the Browns talking when they shouldn’t be, and they end up looking silly in the end. This time, the Browns are on the opposite end, and they have their first win of the season as a result.
