The Cleveland Browns finally have their last unsigned draft pick under contract — the only rookie in the NFL without a deal until now. Former Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins has signed his four-year rookie contract with the Browns, worth $11.4 million. This comes about three weeks after a criminal charge of domestic violence against Judkins was not further pursued in Florida.

When could Quinshon Judkins make his debut with the Browns?

Judkins won’t be available in Week 1, and the earliest he could take the field would be Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. The NFL is still investigating whether Judkins violated the league’s personal conduct policy. It also remains to be seen whether he will be placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. For now, the Browns have an exemption on their roster for up to two weeks while Judkins ramps up with the team.

If Judkins avoids the Commissioner’s Exempt List and gets up to speed by Week 2, he could make his debut then. For now, the Browns will roll with fourth-year running back Jerome Ford and rookie Dylan Sampson, a player Cleveland is high on out of Tennessee. Looking ahead, the future of the backfield likely belongs to Judkins and Sampson, though Ford should still provide value this season.

Judkins’ NFL career hasn’t gotten off to the smoothest start, but now that he’s back with the team, he can work toward catching up after missing all of training camp. The league could still hand down a suspension at any time, but barring that, Judkins should see the field within the next couple of weeks. The No. 36 overall pick in the second round has the potential to give a major boost to an offense that struggled mightily last season.
