A breakout player for the Cleveland Browns has gone down with an injury against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the third preseason game, safety Ronnie Hickman Jr. left the game with a possible concussion and did not return. Hickman went to the medical tent, then to the locker room.

Hickman recorded his third interception the preseason earlier in the game before exiting.

After securing two interceptions last week against the Washington Commanders, Hickman once again found the ball this week. The Browns signed Hickman as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in April.

For not being known as a coverage safety, Hickman has been exactly that this preseason. The rookie was notably a box safety coming out of Ohio State because that’s where he is best. But this preseason he has gone out and shown he can be more than that.

Hickman is one of a couple of undrafted free agents that have a chance to make the Browns’ 53-man roster. If the concussion is confirmed, Hickman will likely miss the final preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The question is now whether or not Hickman has shown enough to make the roster. After breaking out with big plays this preseason, it certainly looks like he has.

UPDATE: Cleveland received good word on Hickman, as he was cleared of a concussion.
