For the Cleveland Browns, the 2024 season is a pivotal one. The Browns are hoping that season No. 3 for Deshaun Watson in Cleveland is the year that he can put it all together.
Pro Football Hall of Fame member Shannon Sharpe holds much of the same opinion as most when it comes to Watson. Sort of that he dictates a lot of what Cleveland does in 2024.
"For me, when I look at the Cleveland Browns, if Deshaun Watson, it's either now or never,” said Sharpe on an airing of First Take. “He's under immense pressure. That big contract, he has yet to live up to it because of injuries and obviously whatever happened off the field in Houston. I just need Deshaun Watson to give me 85 to 90 percent of what he once was. I like the Cleveland Browns."
Through two seasons, Watson has played in just 12 games with the Browns. Cleveland is looking to finally get the return they traded over three first-round draft picks for. If it takes until the third year due to the suspension and injury, the Browns will live with that.
Sharpe predicts that the Browns will reach the AFC Championship game and play the Kansas City Chiefs. These two teams played in the divisional round in 2020, and Kansas City won that game in what was a close one that came down to a finish near the end.
Cleveland has an elite defense and playmakers all along the offense. They need their quarterback that they gave a fully guaranteed contract to to step up and be that guy to accomplish the big picture.
