There is at least one special note in tonight’s preseason game between the Cleveland Browns and Washington Commanders.

Washington Backup QB Jacoby Brissett will make his first return to Cleveland as an opponent.

It will be a bit weird for Brissett likely, considering he started 11 games for the Browns last season.

Brissett was universally liked amongst Cleveland fans and he gave everything you could ask for and more as the quarterback for those 11 games. He had his best 11-game stretch in the NFL and it resulted in the Browns going 4-7 during that time.

The losses didn’t have much to do with Brissett, as he was as efficient as you can get from a backup. Brissett had 12 passing touchdowns, six interceptions, and just over 2,600 passing yards. Thrown in a tough spot with Deshaun Watson being suspended, Brissett was exceptional.

Tonight, Brissett will suit up for his fifth team in nine seasons. Sam Howell is the starting quarterback for the Commanders but Brissett is waiting in the reigns if he needs to be called upon. He’s a guy that stays ready.

Cleveland will welcome back Brissett with open arms tonight, as he was quickly a fan favorite amongst all.
