Cleveland Browns had no game in Week 5 but plenty still happened around the AFC North that factors them in.

The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers battled it out with the Steelers gutting out a 17-10 win. That result helps the Browns, who now have the same amount of losses as the Steelers and Ravens. Cincinnati went to the desert and defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 34-20.

With all of the games in the division now taken care of for Week 5, the standings are set heading into Week 6.

AFC North Standings

Pittsburgh Steelers 3-2 (1-1)

Baltimore Ravens 3-2 (1-1)

Cleveland Browns 2-2 (1-2)

Cincinnati Bengals 2-3 (0-2)

(division record)

Through Week 5, the Browns have played every team in the division once. In Week 1, the Browns took care of the Bengals in dominant fashion. Week 2 was where the Browns lost Nick Chubb for the season, as well as a close one to the Steelers.

Following a win over the Tennessee Titans, the Browns were throttled at home by the Ravens last week before their week off.

Early on, Cleveland has not helped themselves by going 1-2 in the division. They probably beat the Steelers if Chubb doesn’t go down, but this game is played on actual results. The Browns will still play the Steelers at home, and then the second matchup with the Ravens and Bengals will be on the road.

At this time, the Browns’ win over the Bengals has them ahead in the division, as well as one less loss. For now, the Browns have one less game played with the very early bye.

Out of the bye is not going to be easy for the Browns, as perhaps their toughest opponent of the year comes to town. The San Francisco 49ers come to Cleveland in Week 6 and they’re undefeated going into Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.

Cleveland has been hit hard with injuries early, as has the Ravens. You can say the same with the Bengals not having a healthy Joe Burrow to start the 2023 campaign. The injury excuse works for every time, some more than others.

Going into Week 6, the AFC North is wide open. Of course, it’s early so that plays a part but it is truly a division where any team could come alive.
