CBS is trolling Cowboys Nation in a painful yet totally understandable way ahead of Week 1
Dallas Cowboys living in the DFW area got trolled.
If you’re a Dallas Cowboys fan living in the Dallas Fort Worth area trying to forget all about the Micah Parsons trade, major TV network CBS is making it clear it’s not here to help you.
According to 506sports’ Week 1 broadcast map, CBS will be airing the Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Rams game in all of Texas. Well, all of Texas except the DFW area, which is getting the Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions matchup. That’s right, the network is choosing to air Parsons’ debut in the area instead of the in-state rival’s game. RJ Ochoa pointed it out first on X.
CBS’ decision makes a lot of sense
I’m not here to hate on CBS’ decision. In fact, I respect it. First of all, the DFW area is Cowboys territory and I wouldn’t expect a lot of Texans fans to riot in the area. There is, however, an obvious interest in watching one of the biggest stars in recent franchise history perform for another team. How is he going to look? How much of an impact he’s going to make?
All of that matters to a diehard fan. And there will be Cowboys fans rooting for him and against him. It will also build up the excitement for Dallas’ scheduled matchup versus the Packers in Week 4.
Additionally, I wouldn’t complain as a fan. The Packers vs. Lions game—two teams expected to battle it out for the NFC North title this year—is absolutely more intriguing than Texans vs. Rams. But still, genius business move and troll from CBS.
If CBS won’t help the fan base move on, let’s hope the Cowboys themselves do with wins, including one on Thursday night when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
