Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb stands alone in NFL history.
He's the only player in the Super Bowl era that has accumulated three consecutive games with 10 catches and 150 receiving yards. Lamb's Sunday performance against the New York Giants separated him from eight other receivers in NFL history who had two such games.
Lamb has earned the WR1 talk. And at this point, he's done trying to explain it to reporters. He's focused on showing them, instead.
“I’m the top receiver in this game, and it’s no question about it," Lamb told reporters following the game. "If there is, I’ll see you all again next week.”
Consider that a strong, bold message to the media but also to fans and even fellow receivers around the league.
CeeDee has embraced the role of a true No. 1 wide receiver this season. Against the team's darkest hour of the season in San Francisco, he showed his discontent and indirectly called for more targets. Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy complied, and Lamb hasn't looked back.
Now, he's making the claim he's the best there is. Better than Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, and A.J. Brown. It's him, he assures us. And if you don't like it just tune in to watch.
We'll leave the stats comparisons for another day. In the meantime, let's just acknowledge he has a case and belongs in the conversation.
He's making plays everywhere around the field. It doesn't matter if he's lined up in the slot, out wide, or if he's isolated as the X receiver. It matters even less if it's a short throw or a bomb downfield. 88 is showing up. Heck, even if it's a throwaway, he'll find it.
Cowboys give fans and media exactly what they wanted in win over Giants
We needed to see that.
