For the second consecutive week, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is being fined by the NFL. Last week, it was $22,511 due to an unnecessary roughness call for use of the helmet.
Now, it's a combined $25,324 originating from a couple of rule violations versus the New York Giants. It breaks down as follows:
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct (violent gesture) – $14,069
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct (taunting) – $11,255
The violent gesture was a result of Lamb's celebration when moving the chains, when he pointed forward and pretended to shoot a gun. The NFL is hammering down on such celebrations, having fined five platers around the league for the same reason.
For Lamb, who likely doesn't care as much after becoming the second-highest paid wide receiver in NFL history, it's his third fine of the year. Call it an new, expensive, albeit unnecessary hobby. In 2021, he was fined five times, per Spotrac.
Every Saturday, the NFL is announcing its league-wide fines and amounts for penalties committed the previous week. For example, chances are Lamb will be paying yet another fine next weekend after being called for taunting against the New York Giants on this week's Thursday Night Football.
