When it comes to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, Dak Prescott has pounded the table from the start of this season.

On Thursday's win over the Seattle Seahawks, he was proven right once again as Ferguson caught six passes for 77 yards and one touchdown.

The second-year TE was also a key blocker in the game and it's safe to say he brought some spice to, exchanging words with safety Jamal Adams and other Seahawks throughout the game.

Ferguson's touchdown capped the Cowboys' game-winnning drive in a wheel route where he beat Adams before staring him down after the clutch catch. When it was all said and done, Prescott found the best word to describe him.

"He's a baller," Prescott told reporters postgame with a hint of a proud smile. "His mentality first and foremost is why he is the guy that he is and having the success that he has. He expects, when I talk about expectations, he expects to do what he did in tonight's game."

But although fans get to see the big plays he's able to make and the flashes the showed since his rookie season, they don't get to see what Prescott does: Ferguson's relentless preparation.

In a way, Dak sees a little bit of himself in the hungry young tight end that's slowly making a name for himself.

"He's no different than me," added the Cowboys quarterback without holding back his praise for the second-year tight end. "I guarantee he can pull two or three plays up and says he wants to get better at that. So a guy that's not satisfied, loves the game of football, and just as important, loves his teammates, loves who he's doing it with."

You can tell Ferguson's passion is there just from watching him in between plays. Not every player will be as fired up as he was on Thursday Night Football against the Seahawks. That's a guy who cares.

"He puts a lot into this game, and we expect a lot out of him," Prescott concluded. He's taken all responsibility for that, and he's just going out there each and every week continuing to get better. And that's why I've had his back and continue to preach on his bright future because I see what he does week in and week out. I know the mentality that he takes."

Prescott's comments on Ferguson certainly go a long way in explaining why the Cowboys' front office was willing to part ways with a highly productive tight end as Dalton Schultz in the offseason. Right from the get-go, the team believed in who No. 87 could be.

"He's a little crazy," Dak admitted. "But you have to be that way playing his position, and he's a big-time guy for us."
