Okay, I got a proposal for you: For a few minutes, let's leave aside all of the stat sheet and player evaluation discussions aside and let's talk about Ezekiel Elliott reuniting with the Dallas Cowboys.

Back in 2016, Zeke rose to stardom and he and Dak Prescott took the NFL by storm as rookies. Watching a fourth overall pick and a fourth rounder become the faces of America's Team en route to the No. 1 seed in the NFC was truly special.

I mean, these two walked to the stage together when Prescott won Offensive Rookie of the Year and Dak asked for a knife to split the award in half. When you talk about bromances in the league, Dak and Zeke are at the top of the list.

That's why it was very hard not to crack a wide smile when Dak was asked about his friend's return to the franchise.

"The f–kin best," Prescott told reporters on Wednesday, the last day of practice of the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp.

It's a simple message but a telling one: Dak was never onboard with the release of Elliott and in a way, it was the biggest player exit from the team he's experienced on a personal level given his friendship with the running back.

Mike McCarthy and others have also talked about Elliott's presence on the locker room, which is described by many with depictions of his huge smile and simply as "fun."

McCarthy recently confirmed suspicions about Elliott not returning with expectations of filling his old RB1 role, claiming it would even be unfair to ask him to do that. The Cowboys are expected to run a running back by committee offense in 2024 and even that could be led by Rico Dowdle.

But Zeke being back is guaranteed to raise the morale of the locker room and let's face it: Of the quarterback himself.
