The Dallas Cowboys have turned the page regarding Dan Quinn and there are no favors being made to the friend-turned-enemy head coach of the Washington Commanders. 

The team has now denied Quinn of two coaching interviews with Cowboys staff members: Tight ends coach Lunda Wells and defensive backs coach Al Harris. 

On Wednesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Quinn wished to interview Cowboys tight ends coach Lunda Wells but was blocked by Dallas. The decision makes sense as Wells is truly one of the best position coaches on the team and has been greatly responsible for Jake Ferguson's development from a fourth rounder to a future star.

Before him, he coached Dalton Schultz and saw him get a 808-yard receiving season in 2021, his career-high to this date. 

Wells is beloved in the locker room and it's not hard to figure out why. Consider the story Ferguson revealed after tough drops in Week 1. He was inn a dark place before Wells rang him up: 

"That’s a lot of credit to (Coach Wells), believing in us as a unit and me personally dropping those two balls last week," Ferguson said back in September. "I’m not going to lie, I did get in my head for probably the night after that game. For him calling me and talking to me, getting me out of that hole and getting me ready for the week to come was really good to hear.”

Every Cowboys fan should be extremely glad that Wells is being protected by the front office. And he's not the only one.

Al Harris set to return for 2024 season

Although Harris wasn't the hot shot defensive coordinator candidate that many of us thought he could be, it's a major win for Dallas to have kept him around. According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Quinn was also looking into interviewing his former DB coach to which the Cowboys promptly said: Nuh-uh. 

In addition to blocking Washington from interviewing TE coach Lunda Wells, the Cowboys denied the Commanders from speaking with DBs coach Al Harris, per a source.

This one is more telling than the Wells' news simply because the defensive staff doesn't have a coordinator as of now. That means whoever the Cowboys choose as their replacement for Quinn won't be given a choice. Harris will be coaching the defensive backs no matter what.

That's nothing to be worried about, though. Harris has done a great job developing Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland into All-Pro cornerbacks.
