The Dallas Cowboys took a tough blow when they lost star cornerback Trevon Diggs. Another defensive back has stepped up in a major way, though. That's cornerback Daron Bland.
After his pick six against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11, Cowboys CB Daron Bland now has 4 interceptions returned for a touchdown. That's tied for the most by a player in a single season in NFL history.
There's plenty of season left for him to break that NFL record as well.
Bland has erupted into a a key player for an impressive Dallas defense. Going forward this season, he is their most important player in the secondary. He's got six total interceptions this year.
Once Diggs returns next season, they have one of the top CB duos in the entire league – undoubtedly. They both have elite ballhawking ability and the knack for causing turnovers.
Three other players have returned four interceptions for a touchdown in a single season. Those are Eric Allen, Jim Kearney, and Ken Houston. It hasn't happened since 1993, but Bland just broke that trend. Kearney and Houston did it in back to back seasons from 1971-1972.
