The Dallas Cowboys have been riddled with injuries this year, a big reason for their struggles in 2024, even though there are many other self-inflicted reasons for their rapid decline.

Ninety minutes before their Week 12 matchup against the Washington Commanders, the Cowboys revealed their inactive players list and man, there are some big names on it. Trevon Diggs will miss the game just as DaRon Bland is set to make his season debut, serving as the perfect example of the team's lack of luck.

Additionally, All-Pro right guard Zack Martin is missing the game after suffering an ankle injury last weekend as Cowboys Nation crosses its fingers in the hopes of seeing Martin on the field once again before a potential retirement in the offseason. Tyler Smith will also be out, so the Cowboys will be with two backup guards up front.

However, on a very positive note, Micah Parsons will receive some much-needed help on the edges as second-round rookie Marshawn Kneeland returns from Injured Reserve. The Cowboys have been shorthanded at defensive end with Parsons, Kneeland, and DeMarcus Lawrence (still on IR) all missing at least four games.

But now that Kneeland is back, expect that to make an impact on Parsons' play as well as on the entire defensive line. Not that it will turn the Cowboys season round or anything, but Mike Zimmer needed another presence along the defensive line.

Other notes on Cowboys inactives

  • Interestingly enough, Clark is once again a healthy scratch at linebacker. His role was already diminishing since September but now it's clear the Cowboys coaching staff wants all the reps going to the youngsters in DeMarvion Overshown and rookie Marist Liufau and of course, Eric Kendricks at middle linebacker, Clark's old job.
  • WR Jonathan Brooks is once again a healthy scratch in favor of Ryan Flournoy, who received his first career start last weekend.
  • TE Princeton Fant was once again elevated the from practice squad as Jake Ferguson is out with a concussion.
  • With Chuma Edoga back on the gameday roster, OL Matt Waletzko remains buried deep on the Cowboys depth chart.
