After the Dallas Cowboys debacle in Buffalo, their next game against the Miami Dolphins became much more crucial.
The Cowboys are tied for first in the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Seahawks did the Cowboys a massive favor by beating them on Monday night, but the rest of the schedule for the Eagles should be relatively easy.
The three games remaining for the Eagles are the Cardinals and the Giants twice.
The Cardinals surprised the Cowboys earlier, so who knows maybe they're up for the challenge, but the three games remaining for the Cowboys can be all viewed as must-win.
This Sunday, on Christmas Eve, the Cowboys are set to face off against the prolific Dolphins offense.
Preparing for the Dolphins is a challenge for any team for one simple reason, their speed. Their receivers in Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill could probably qualify for the Olympics in the 100-meter dash.
And not to mention their running back Devon Achane, who did run in the Olympic trials. All eyes will be on the Cowboys' defense this week and how they plan to counteract the speed the Dolphins bring.
Mike McDaniel praises Micah Parsons
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is not overlooking the Cowboys either. He had some strong words when asked about Micah Parsons earlier in the week.
"He is one of the best players in the National Football League at any position," McDaniel told reporters. "I don’t think it’s really debatable. This dude is different. Not only is he unique in skillset, but you don’t play all the way across the line and in the stack and do all the things that he does without having a true love for the game."
From this comment, it is easy to see that Micah Parsons is a focal point in the Dolphins' preparation for the Cowboys. As he should be.
"He is a real dude, for sure," McDaniel concluded.
Their plan will likely be one that has worked for them all season: Get the ball out quick.
Tua Tagovailoa has the shortest time to throw among all NFL QBs (minimum 300 dropbacks) with 2.36 seconds. As well as a big part of their passing game is screens (14.2%) and crossing routes (12.6%).
In an ideal world, if you get the ball out quick, the QB will face pressure a lot less. It will be interesting to watch Micah Parsons this game and see what Dan Quinn schemes up for him, especially if the Dolphins' injury fears come to life on Sunday.
