One of the most important events on the NFL offseason calendar is the All-Star game circuit.

They are important for teams and media alike as it allows them to get close to the players, interview them, and get to know them. And of course, you get to see them go against some of the better players in the nation.

The All-Star game circuit has already kicked off with the Hula Bowl, and the CGS Showcase. This week it was the Shrine Bowl's turn. With the game recently moving its location to the Dallas Cowboys headquarters in Frisco, Texas it can pose a significant advantage to the Cowboys.

So who were some of the top performers of the weekend, that Cowboys fans should know about? That is what we're here to talk about.

DT Khristian Boyd, Northern Iowa

The first standout we need to talk about is Northern Iowa, defensive tackle Khristian Boyd.

Boyd was one of the smaller players in the trenches in terms of height, as he only came in at a shade over 6'2. That did not stop him in any way. Boyd was consistently making plays near the line of scrimmage. He showed impressive power in his hands, as well as a good array of pass-rushing moves.

All-Star games are of paramount importance for players like Boyd. Coming from a smaller school, naturally, there will be questions about the level of competition jump he will be taking.

He was wiping away any concerns anyone had with the weekend he put together, as it was one of the best out of any attendee. The Cowboys could look into fixing their major interior defensive line problems by looking into the underdog prospect.

OG Mason McCormick, South Dakota State

Another small school player who had an impressive week was South Dakota State offensive guard Mason McCormick. McCormick weighed in at 6'4 310, and put together a very solid couple of days of practice. He showed good balance, anchor and hand placement consistently.

At the end of practices, sometimes coaches like to do a "compete" segment. They will line up two players who had a good day, and let them go one-on-one, with everyone else surrounding them, to hype them up. McCormick shined in his rep.

DL Myles Murphy, North Carolina

We will turn our attention back to the defensive side of the ball, where another interior defensive lineman put together a solid week. Myles Murphy of North Carolina was explosive, crafty with his hands, and showcased plenty of power.

The Cowboys already have a very good 3 technique in Osa Odighizuwa, but Murphy would be a very solid depth piece in rotation behind him.

DL Sundiata Anderson, Grambling State

For the last player, we will be making our way to the edge of the defensive line. Sundiata Anderson of Grambling State definitely looked the part of an NFL player.

He weighed in at 6'3 249 and he was moving. He showed explosiveness of the edge to threaten offensive tackles up the pass protection arch. As well as showing the ability to counter back inside after threatening up the edge.

Anderson was just another smaller school player who took full advantage of the opportunity to showcase just what he could bring to an NFL team.
