Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones provided fans with a couple of very important injury updates on a couple of key players that had fans worried following the Week 16 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

“We injected (Tyron Smith) last week," Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday. "That usually works so hopefully we could have him (next Saturday). He’s a huge difference maker.”

During Sunday's game, it was painfully clear how much the Cowboys missed their future Hall of Famer at left tackle. Not only was Chuma Edoga struggling physically and mentally but the team wasn't able to focus protection help on the right side, where Terence Steele has struggled against top pass rushing units.

The result? Dak Prescott was pressured 17 times, sacked four, and hit 12! Hopefully, Jones' words translate into a reality when the Cowboys take on the Detroit Lions in Week 16. Steele will need all the help he can get against Aidan Hutchinson and if the team can stop worrying about Tyron's side of things, it'll be much easier to get him such help.

Regarding cornerback Stephon Gilmore, Jones also had a very promising update following his being banged up after a big shot to the body in Miami.

"I think (Gilmore) is planning on playing," Jones said of Gilmore, who returned a few plays after being seemingly in serious pain against the Dolphins. "Lucky to have him."

As for nose tackle Johnathan Hankins, the Cowboys owner didn't offer much, saying he didn't know what his status would be for the game ahead. Hankins has missed back-to-back games and having him back could be huge against one of the best offensive lines in football.
