Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is finally doing it: He's inducting legendary head coach Jimmy Johnson into the franchise's Ring of Honor.
The news was teased when the odd couple was seen together moments before the Cowboys' Week 11 game against the Carolina Panthers. Now, it's official.
After years of leaving Johnson out of it, Jones announced on live TV on Sunday that he is finally righting a wrong. The ceremony will occur on December 30th when Dallas takes on the Detroit Lions for Week 17.
"I can't believe now we were able to experience such a time in our lives," Jones told Johnson on FOX NFL. "There's never been any question (that you were going to be) on the Cowboys' Ring of Honor."
Some fans sure questioned it. Now, it's water under the bridge. Does the news fully make the way-too-long wait go away? Not exactly. This news still should've come years ago. But now, all that there's left to do is enjoy it.
Earlier this year, the Cowboys inducted DeMarcus Ware into the iconic Ring, drawing the ire of fans who kept wondering why Jimmy wasn't up there. I wrote about how what was supposed to be the ultimate honor for a Cowboy was slowly losing meaning.
Now, it's earned it back. How 'bout them Cowboys!?
