When the New York Giants traded Saquon Barkley away, it wasn't exactly good news for the Dallas Cowboys. After all, the two-time Pro Bowl running back was not only staying in the division but actually heading to top NFC East foe, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fast forward to Friday night, that trade is looking so dangerous that Micah Parsons even took to social media to call for an investigation on the Giants, tweeting the below post:
Parsons' tweet was the result of a statement game from Barkley in Brazil that included two rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown, and 132 yards from scrimmage that set the tone in an Eagles' 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers.
Although Parsons' request for an investigation was likely made in exaggeration and jokingly, the truth is the trade might provoke some drama in New York. This offseason, the Giants were featured in HBO's Hard Knocks, where scenes of owner John Mara telling GM Joe Schoen he'd "have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philly." I'm pretty certain that game last night didn't exactly produce melatonin for Mara.
Barkley in Philly was always bound to be dangerous: The Cowboys' division rival still has one of the best offensive lines in the NFL even with the loss of Jason Kelce. Additionally, the threat of quarterback Jalen Hurts as a runner makes Barkley's life easier as it consistently tilts the numbers game in Philly's favor.
When Parsons and the Cowboys face the Eagles in Week 10 and 17, you can expect a very different version of Barkley as he's now playing with a team that's truly maximizing his value.
Cowboys’ Micah Parsons might be forced to wait on what he wants the most from Mike Zimmer’s defense
He’ll have to be patient.
