The Dallas Cowboys are making the playoffs. But after Week 15's embarrassing 31-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the question is if that will translate into any sort of postseason success.

After a week discussing the team's hot streak and a massive 20-point win against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys came out flat in a tough showing at Orchard Park. The team was absolutely bullied from start to finish as they were handed their fourth loss of the season and a major hit to their odds to win the NFC East.

More costly than anything else, however, is the daunting reality that the Cowboys are staring at ahead of the playoffs that they've secured a ticket to…

The Cowboys are likely playing on the road in January

While future results could change the outcome of the division title, the truth is the Eagles control their own destiny to win the division. And it's shaping up to be a favorable one as they have easy opponents ahead with dates against the Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants (twice), and Arizona Cardinals.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys' schedule has them traveling to face the Miami Dolphins next week and hosting the Detroit Lions the week after that.

This is all to say that the Cowboys are very likely to be a Wild Card team once the playoffs begin. That implies playing on the road… week in and week out. And if there's one thing we learned on Sunday is the team has yet to figure out how to win when not counting with the comfort of AT&T Stadium.

Mike McCarthy discusses road woes with honest message

"We play so well at home and there's just too big of a gap on our road games," an honest Mike McCarthy told reporters after the game. "We're conscious of it, we've got a long flight home to continue to talk about it, think about it. We've gotta move on to Miami in the morning."

Sunday was the Cowboys' fourth loss of the season, all of which have happened on the road. While they have an insane +177 point differential at home, they're in the red when going on the road at -4. It's a different team entirely and it's got to be fixed in time for January because there's a very high probability that's what it will take.

"We've got to be better," added the Cowboys head coach. "I don't think anybody expected us to play the way we did tonight (…) we've got to be much better on the road, regardless of what's in front of us and all the other conversations."

Whether it's bad opponent luck, lack of preparation or a bad process to get the team ready, the problem couldn't be more evident. They're now 3-4 on the road with wins taking place against the New York Giants, L.A. Chargers, and Carolina Panthers, who are a combined 12-30.

Until proven otherwise, the Cowboys know the one thing they haven't been able to do right is the thing they'll need the most to go all the way.
