The NFL never rests, not even for teams out of the playoffs and the latest coaching news is one guaranteed to catch the attention of the Dallas Cowboys, who are preparing for a tough matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Pete Carroll – surprisingly – is out as head coach with the Seattle Seahawks and early reports indicate Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is going to be a significant candidate. ESPN's Adam Schefter immediately reported Seattle is expected to be interested in him.

Quinn, as you might remember, was a big part of the Legion of Boom days. He worked in Seattle from 2009-2010 as assistant head coach & defensive line coach and later in 2013-2014 as defensive coordinator before leaving to the Atlanta Falcons, where he reached a Super Bowl before infamously blowing a 28-3 lead.

Quinn is expected to draw interest from other teams and so far we know the Carolina Panthers have entered a request for an interview. In contrast with the Panthers, who have had six head coaches (including interim HCs) since David Tepper purchased the franchise in 2018, the Seahawks would be a very compelling place to end up in.

Tom Pelissero reported that the Tennessee Titans are also requesting an interview with Quinn after controversially firing Mike Vrabel.

In the past two years, Quinn has drawn head coaching interest after turning around a historically bad defense in Dallas to one of the most fearsome units in the league. The way he's weaponized Micah Parsons can't be ignored by NFL front offices as well as his hybrid scheme approach. On top of it, he's been one heck of a recruiter, hitting on prospects he's pounded the table for, including rising cornerback DaRon Bland.

The Cowboys defensive coordinator has been vocal about enjoying life as a defensive coordinator and Jerry Jones has paid up to keep him from leaving before. But at some point, there's likely to be a way-too-good offer for him to pass on. And the Seahawks make way too much sense.

For now, Quinn's biggest concern is slowing down Jordan Love's offense. He'll have his hands full this weekend as he faces a legit offense with a good offensive line, wide receiver core, and a solid running game.
