The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers face each other every four years and its still considered an important NFL rivalry. Why? You name it, the brands, the worldwide recognition, but most importantly, three Super Bowl matchups between each other.

Add to that some classics like the 2016 showdown in Pittsburgh during Dak Prescott's and Ezekiel Elliott's iconic rookie season.

This weekend, Cowboys and Steelers will square off against each other on a very known stage for each franchise: Sunday Night Football. It'll mark Dallas' 80th appearance, an NFL-high mark, and Pittsburgh's 56th (3rd in the league). Let's dive into everything you need to know.

How to watch and stream Cowboys vs. Steelers in Week 5

  • National TV: NBC
  • Announcers: Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Chris Collinsworth (analyst), Melissa Stark (sideline)
  • Football Night in America: 6 p.m. CT
  • Streaming option 1: Peacock
  • Streaming option 2: NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTubeTV
  • Streaming option 3: NFL+ (Only on Mobile devices)

Cowboys players to watch

  • QB Dak Prescott: It's an obvious one but this really is a game that'll fall on Prescott's hands as he'll have to overcome a banged up Cowboys defense and a broken running game to win this one. The Steelers secondary was challenged by Joe Flacco and the Indianapolis Colts last weekend.
  • DE Marshawn Kneeland: Micah Parsons is likely not playing on Sunday and DeMarcus Lawrence is on Injured Reserve, which means the second-round rookie will have to step up big-time against a banged up Steelers OL.
  • CB Trevon Diggs: The Cowboys defense will likely be without DaRon Bland once again which might mean Diggs will be the most important piece to stopping WR George Pickens.

Steelers players to watch

  • OLB T.J. Watt: The Steelers superstar defender has a chance to break this game as he'll face RT Terence Steele, who has struggled in pass pro since last year. This can be a multi-sack game for him.
  • C Zach Frazier: The Steelers have struggled to run the football and in the middle of a banged-up offensive line, the rookie might be their most important guy to change that against a porous Cowboys run defense. He'll mostly face Mazi Smith, who had his best career game last week for Dallas.
  • CB Joey Porter Jr.: The second-year cornerback was picked on by Flacco last week and you know the Cowboys will challenge him. It's time to step up and play better.

Betting odds: Steelers grow as favorites

  • Spread: Steelers -2.5
  • Total: 44

The Cowboys opened as one-point underdogs to the Steelers last week but are now heavier underdogs as the betting world has made Pittsburgh a bigger favorite ahead of Sunday's game. However, as the spread suggests, this is expected to be an immensely close game.

Cowboys key injuries

The Cowboys will be down multiple important players including DE DeMarcus Lawrence and WR Brandin Cooks. Micah Parsons has yet to be officially ruled out but Mike McCarthy revealed they're planning to be without him. CB DaRon Bland remains on Injured Reserve and although he's eligible to return, it would be a surprise if he plays on Sunday.

Steelers key injuries

The Steelers have lost three starting offensive linemen for the season: RT Troy Fautanu, RG James Daniel, and C Nate Herbig. They're also dealing with injuries to RB Jaylen Warren, who could play on Sunday.

Shared history

The Cowboys and Steelers have played three Super Bowls against each other (X, XLIII, and XXX) with the tally favoring the latter 2-1. They've played 33 games in total, including the very first Cowboys game ever in 1960. They've played six times in season-opening games and the series is an overall 17-16 with Dallas leading.
