The Dallas Cowboys are 90 minutes away from squaring off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a game that certainly has a desperation feel to it, as they sit at 2-2 with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers in the horizon.

To beat the Steelers, they'll need to be able to overcome injuries to several key players, starting with defensive ends Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. The latter has already been placed on IR while the former is listed as an inactive ahead of the ballgame. Additionally, the Cowboys will be down another key starter on the offensive side of things as Brandin Cooks was also placed on IR due to a knee infection.

Below is the full list of inactives ahead of the game:

  1. DE Micah Parsons
  2. CB Caelen Carson
  3. DE K.J. Henry
  4. RB Deuce Vaughn
  5. TE John Stephens Jr.
  6. OT Matt Waletzko
  7. QB Trey Lance (emergency QB)

Notes on Cowboys inactives

  • The most noteworthy development other than Parsons' name is the fact that WR Ryan Flournoy is set to make his NFL debut as Cooks misses his first of at least four games. Fans have been expecting to see the sixth-round rookie in regular season action as he turned heads in training camp and in the preseason. He's big and fast and could have his moments thanks to his X-receiver build, which is something Dallas arguably lacks at the moment. It wouldn't be a surprise him on the field more than expected as the Cowboys offense adapts to being down Cooks.
  • RB Deuce Vaughn being inactive is certainly noteworthy but the Cowboys probably needed the depth at other positions with how banged up they are.
  • Cornerback Caelen Carson will once again be sidelined, which means the Cowboys will be in trouble at outside cornerback once again. He was vastly missed in Week 4 versus the Giants.
  • Lawrence and Cooks are not on the list as both have been officially placed on Injured Reserve and are currently not a part of the 53-man  roster.
