In case you are unaware, it is Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles week.

This is the first time out of two that they are guaranteed to play each other this season. In the 129 matchups these teams have played, the Cowboys lead the Eagles 73-55, yet it is the Eagles who have had the bragging rights as of late.

And it has to do with the playoffs. The Eagles have won a Super Bowl in this century, and made it to another; while the Cowboys have not even made it.

Much is being made about Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott squaring off, and rightfully so. However, it will come down to more than just two players.

In a recent interview on Cam Newton's YouTube show, Cowboys cornerback Stephon Gilmore was asked: "Who would you rather guard, Tyreek Hill or A.J. Brown?"

GIlmore's answer was concise and confident: "A.J. Brown for sure."

This can be surprising to some as Brown is having a monster year with the Eagles. He is currently second in the NFL in receiving yards with 939 (only behind Tyreek Hill), has 15.65 yards/reception, and 5 touchdowns.

But in reality, Gilmore's answer boils down to a simple reason. Tyreek Hill is much much faster.

Stephone Gilmore is currently 33 years old. When players cross the 30-year threshold (specifically at skill positions) they tend to lose a step. While Gilmore's play might not have dropped off much overall, his speed surely has, which is almost assuredly why he would rather play A.J. Brown.

Brown's game is much more predicated on being physical and beating you at the catch point, as evidenced by his 21 contested catch targets (1st in the NFL).

Regardless of the reasoning, Gilmore has put it out there, he has surely put Brown on notice and motivated him leading up to the critical Week 9 showdown. If Brown ends up beating him during the contest, it could spell a media firestorm for the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year.

The comment might've also tipped the Cowboys' hand with their preference on how to deploy Gilmore and DaRon Bland, who could spend more time on DeVonta Smith to avoid a speed mismatch.

Now the question is, how much will we see Gilmore on Brown this afternoon? I bet it's a lot.
