Despite reports about running back Tony Pollard being willing to take a discount to stay in Texas, the Dallas Cowboys are apparently losing the running back in free agency.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC2, Pollard is planning to sign with the Tennessee Titans. Ian Rapoport shed light on the details of the deal: It's a three-year contract worth $24 million.

The Titans, who allowed Derrick Henry to enter free agency, have found their running back replacement.

Ironically, Henry is viewed as a candidate to land with the Cowboys. The veteran back lives in Dallas in the offseason and recently purchased a second home in the area. The latest news about Pollard has fans hoping for a "swap" of sorts where Henry ultimately lands in Dallas as a free agent himself.

It won't be easy to make that happen as Henry is projected to sign a $10 million per year deal with many potential suitors entering a bidding war. Pollard and D'Andre Swift have each reportedly agreed to $8 million per year in the first couple of hours of free agency. That could mean Henry exceeds expectations and signs for over $10 million in average.

Pollard's role in Dallas took a step forward in 2023 when he became the team's RB1 with Ezekiel Elliott out of the picture. Unfortunately, his game simultaneously took a step backward as the Cowboys struggled to get the run game going consistently.

While not all was Pollard's fault, he wasn't as explosive after a broken angle suffered in the 2022-2023 postseason loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Cowboys will have to rebuild the running back room in 2024 through free agency and the NFL Draft but one thing is clear: The position will look vastly different next season.
