NFL quarterbacks already have a target on their back simply because of the spotlight and responsibility that comes with the job.

And if you're the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, the target is even bigger. The popularity of the team has naturally brought on a ton of critics and a lot of times they'll find avenues of criticism that don't even make sense or are completely unfair.

Like it or not, that's just how things go.

And sure enough, that has been the case for Dak Prescott. Pretty much for the entirety of his career.

He is in the headlines just about every other day thanks to some new topic a media outlet -or outlets- is pushing to make headlines.

The latest criticism Dak faced is frankly unhinged behavior and should not be tolerated by any measure. On FS1's the Carton Show, host Craig Carton said that Dak Prescott becoming a father is a "mistake." He would go on to call it a "terrible distraction."

"That's a mistake," Carton said with a disgustingly smug smile on his face. "Why'd you tell me that… there goes the Cowboys' season. I am a big fan of fatherhood… this is a terrible distraction, now, for Dak Prescott… He's not married, so now I gotta question if she's a gold digger. You've got everything going great, the last thing you need, now, is the distraction. I hope they have a beautiful, healthy child. I hope it all works out, but this is not what Cowboy fans want to hear."

I'm not sure how else to put it other than this is absolutely disgusting by Craig Carton.

Anyone who has been a father will tell you that it is one of the best days of your life, and it is their biggest blessing.  Saying that it is a"mistake" and a "terrible distraction" is the worst kind of opinion and frankly on that does not need to be heard by anyone. It's a personal attack and a low one, at that, by Carton. It holds zero weight and bearing on what happens on the field.

Prescott has been criticized for his turnovers, he's been criticized for not winning the big games in his career. But, this? It has no place in the mainstream conversation and FS1 hopefully took issue with Carton's awful take.

As writers, we typically have to refrain from implementing our own biases in our analysis and projections, but I hope Prescott ends up winning the Super Bowl and is the league MVP after this horsecrap. Just to make Carton look even dumber than he already does.
