DeMarvion Overshown's family member proves to be as clutch as Cowboys LB on Thanksgiving win over Giants
One thing I've always wondered about NFL players playing on Thanksgiving is how exactly do the dinner logistics work with their families. One thing I've always wondered about NFL players playing on Thanksgiving is how exactly do the dinner logistics work with their families. I'm assuming in some cases, families will wait for players but what about those who can't or won't? Do they come home to the smell of a tasty meal they can't even get to try?
Well, following the Dallas Cowboys' win over the New York Giants, DeMarvion Overshown provided a cool anecdote: His mom is coming in clutch to save the holiday for him.
"I had me a nice turkey leg," Overshown told the team's official postgame show in an exclusive locker room interview. "A little early dinner before I get home, my mom actually got me a couple leftover plates for when I get home, I'll throw those in the microwave real quick and we're going to get active."
You love to hear it. Overshown's mom is proving to be as clutch as he was on the gridiron.
Overshown certainly earned the dinner after a wild play in which he blew up the running back, tipped the ball up in the air, caught it, and ran into the end zone with it. Heck, you could argue that was a Thanksgiving feast by itself!
In all seriousness though, Overshown continues to be a bright spot for the Cowboys season. He's made an impact on Mike Zimmer's defense and he appears to be getting better every week. He's a heck of an athlete and a true All-Pro candidate for years to come. Considering this is only his first year of actually playing in the NFL, it's easy to get excited about his upside.
The Cowboys defense held the Giants to only 247 of offense and 3-of-12 on third down. They've dominated the last couple of weeks and given fans something more to be thankful for this year.
