‘I’ve been watching him my whole life’ – Cowboys’ draft target daydreams of playing alongside rising defensive star
The Dallas Cowboys could have a pair of athletic linebackers and former Texas Longhorns if they make this pick.
Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown missed the end of the 2024 season and most of the 2025 season due to the same knee injury. Despite the lower than expected playing time, he remains a rising star on the team.
So much so that at least one standout prospect of the 2026 NFL Draft is daydreaming about playing alongside him. He, like Overshown, happens to also be a former Texas Longhorn and an Agent Zero himself.
Anthony Hill Jr. and the Cowboys eye each other
At the Texas Pro Day on Tuesday, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. talked about potentially playing with the Cowboys and Overshown—who has been an inspiration for him to the point of him wearing No. 0 for the Longhorns.
“It can’t be two Agent Zeros,” Hill said via 247Sports. “I know I would have to get a new number, but man, it would be a blessing to play with (Overshown). I’ve been watching him my whole life.”
Fortunately for Hill Jr., the Cowboys are at least interested. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer and a team contingent had dinner with him on Monday night prior to the Pro Day. Schottenheimer was the lone NFL head coach at Texas’ Pro Day.
“It was a good (conversation),” Hill added. “We had some laughs and talked some football.”
Cowboys’ biggest need is still linebacker
Headed into the draft, linebacker remains the Cowboys’ biggest need. With the biggest names of free agency off the market, it’s possible the team’s biggest chance to seriously upgrade the position is betting on a first-round pick.
Though Hill Jr. isn’t a consensus first-round pick, some believe his explosion, range, and instincts make him worth it of hearing his name in Day 1.
He currently ranks 50th in A to Z Sports’ consensus board behind linebackers Sonny Styles and C.J. Allen.
