It's Final Four week in the world of collegiate basketball as March Madness nears its end. But in the NFL world, things are slow as the Draft peeks its head in the horizon.
But why not celebrate the occasion with the "Final Four" questions about the Dallas Cowboys' offseason? With free agency no longer in frenzy mode, what remains a mystery about the direction of the team this offseason?
Let's dive in.
When will Micah Parsons' extension happen?
As repetitive as this may sound, it's true. The Cowboys not getting Parsons' deal done early has already affected them in free agency and it could lead to their best player holding out just like CeeDee Lamb did in 2024.
Will they let things drag out until August to keep themselves in the news cycle or are they striking a long-term deal soon? Brian Schottenheimer predicted the deal is getting done and it's easy to buy into it. It just may take a painfully long time to get there.
How are the Cowboys getting a wide receiver?
This is far and away the Cowboys' biggest concern heading into the 2025 NFL season. They've got a stud at WR1 in CeeDee Lamb but in today's league, you need at least a good No. 2 to complement your top guy. Look at the Bengals with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins or the Vikings with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
Right now, the Cowboys' top candidate for WR2 is… Jalen Tolbert? KaVontae Turpin? Jonathan Mingo?
At No. 12 overall, the Cowboys could find a true immediate upgrade if they land a top prospect like Tetairoa McMillan or Matthew Golden. But what if they take a different route? Would they take a swing at a free agent like Amari Cooper or Keenan Allen? Either way, they've got to do something or it could quickly derail their 2025 season.
Will offensive line be prioritized again?
The Cowboys have several needs that are much more urgent than OL. That includes wide receiver as mentioned above but also running back, cornerback, and nose tackle. But this front office has always prioritized offensive line and nowadays, their unit is a long way from being elite.
A first-round addition at No. 12 could help change that. The Cowboys have several realistic targets that could upgrade their right guard spot, which is currently projected to feature Brock Hoffman.
Could the Cowboys pass on more urgent needs to land someone like Kelvin Banks (Texas), Will Campbell (LSU), Tyler Booker (Alabama), or Armand Membou (Missouri)? It wouldn't be a major surprise if so.
Who will become Dak Prescott's backup?
This wouldn't be that much of an important question if it wasn't for the fact that he's missed at least four games in three out of the last five seasons, including eight games in 2024 with a rough hamstring injury.
Cooper Rush is now a Baltimore Raven and with Trey Lance likely headed elsewhere (perhaps the CFL?), it's only Will Grier and Dak in the Cowboys' QB room. That's almost guaranteed to change as the front office has been vocal about targeting a quarterback in the NFL Draft.
But with no fourth-round draft pick, it will be difficult to land quality. Don't rule out a free agent as several low-cost names remain available including: Drew Lock, Carson Wentz, Teddy Bridgewater, Desmond Ridder.
