The Dallas Cowboys announced their inactives 90 minutes before kickoff against the Philadelphia Eagles, and one of the biggest decisions came at wide receiver.

Jalen Tolbert is inactive as a healthy scratch for the first time this season, while Jonathan Mingo is set to make his 2025 season debut.

After being activated from injury, Mingo was surprisingly a healthy scratch for three consecutive weeks. Now, he’s set to play, which was already expected thanks to comments made by head coach Brian Schottenheimer earlier in the week.

“Mingo’s a guy that we’re really excited about, we want to see him play,” Schottenheimer told reporters. “It’s been a competitive battle between he and a couple of the guys for that last spot.”

Mingo being active over Tolbert is a worrying sign for the latter. A former third-round pick, Tolbert has consistently moved down the depth chart his season. When CeeDee Lamb went down injured, the hope was Tolbert would take over as WR2. Instead, it was Ryan Flournoy, who has since kept the WR3 job with Lamb and George Pickens leading the way.

Over the last three weeks, Tolbert’s snap count has failed to exceed 20%. Now, he’s inactive over Mingo, for whom Dallas traded a fourth-round pick in 2024. At this point, Tolbert’s future with the Cowboys is as blurry as it gets. I would consider it a massive surprise if he sticks around past 2025.

Full list of Cowboys’ inactives

  • DT Jay Toia
  • RB Jaydon Blue
  • OL Hakeem Adeniji
  • WR Jalen Tolbert
  • DT Perrion Winfrey

Other notes on Cowboys inactives

  • DE Jadeveon Clowney is active despite being listed as questionable with a shoulder/neck injury. He’s climbed up the depth chart to the point of being the clear-cut starter alongside rookie DE Donovan Ezeiruaku.
  • CB Trikweze Bridges is active after being a healthy scratch last weekend. With Kaiir Elam being waived, Bridges is set to play special teams while Caelen Carson and rookie Shavon Revel Jr. join DaRon Bland at cornerback.
  • DT Perrion Winfrey is inactive despite being activated to the 53-man roster earlier in the week. Solomon Thomas is back from injury.

Eagles inactives

Notably, center Cam Jurgens is active, though injuries have impacted his play and will be a matchup to watch on this one.
