‘Not what I wanted’ – Micah Parsons keeps it real speaking for first time about Cowboys’ trade with Packers
Micah Parsons spoke for the first time after being traded from Cowboys.
Micah Parsons knows what he’s doing when he talks to the media. On Friday, he did for the first time as a member of the Green Bay Packers. And Dallas Cowboys fans will be intrigued to hear what he had to say about the shocking trade earlier in the week.
Parsons, who described Thursday as a “sad day but not a bitter one” on social media, doubled down on his feelings on the deal and didn’t hold back. When asked about worrying about having to take things farther as the stalemate with the Cowboys continued, the star defender admitted he was concerned.
“I was [starting to worry],” Parsons told reporters. “It’s obviously not what I wanted, I think throughout my career I played throughout so many obstacles [. . .] Every opportunity is a great opportunity, is how I look at it. [. . .] I did not want to be in a position where [I was] missing opportunities to feed my family.”
Parsons added his former Cowboys teammates wanted him on the field, too, which also played a part in his discontent. Those who have followed Parsons’ career closely know he’s not afraid to share his true emotions and even on his first day as a Packer, he acknowledged he didn’t like how things went down.
“I wish things didn’t have to be like this,” Parsons admitted about leaving the Cowboys. “I’m happy with this opportunity.”
Parsons added most of his communication with the Cowboys toward the end of the relationship was through agent David Mulugheta. Hours after the trade was announced Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said there wasn’t an “ounce of vindictiveness” against Micah Parsons.
