Micah Parsons plays along with Packers fans’ evil troll of Jerry Jones after huge performance from former Cowboys DE
The former Cowboys DE is doing just fine in Green Bay.
Jerry Jones may love free publicity but Dallas Cowboys fans tuning in to Thursday Night’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders, especially the postgame coverage, might not have enjoyed Packers fans chanting the owner’s name.
“Thank you Jerry!” chants broke out at Lambeau Field after the Packers’ second win of the season while star pass rusher Micah Parsons sat down for an interview with Amazon Prime’s postgame crew.
The reason for the chants was obvious for those who watched the game: Former Cowboys DE Micah Parsons dominated on the field yet again. In a game where the Packers held the Commanders to 18 points, Parsons recorded half a sack, five QB hits, and three tackles for loss on top of drawing multiple holding penalties.
Parsons played along with the chants
Parsons didn’t shy away from exchanging jabs with Cowboys ownership while the two sides negotiated a long-term deal and there’s no question he’s willing to take victory laps when possible now. While fans chanted their gratitude toward Jones on Thursday night, Parsons nodded in approval and cheered the stands on to keep going. The clip below shows him encouraging his new fans.
I fully understand Cowboys fans wanting to move on and not even think about it anymore. It’s a trade that stings. One that will likely continue to years from now. The team traded away one of the best players the NFL has seen in recent memory in a deal that was sparked by animosity in negotiations the front office should have never allowed to get ugly.
Jerry Jones can try to sell his pitch about Kenny Clark—a good player that deserves no blame—fixing the run defense. But I’m not sure Cowboys Nation will be chanting Brian Gutekunst name anytime soon.
Insane impact from Parsons in Green Bay
For more on how Parsons is playing in Green Bay, this is what A to Z Sports’ Packers expert Wendell Ferreira has to say:
Micah Parsons had eight pressures in only 41 pass rush snaps, and it was impossible not to feel his presence in the game. He had plays grabbing the attention of two, three players, and that made life much harder for Jayden Daniels. “Just physical, aggressive, attacking, the play style is exactly what we want from these guys,” head coach Matt LaFleur said of the defense.
It always starts with the energy and effort. That’s going to get you through and can overcome some of the mistakes. I thought our front is extremely disruptive getting after the quarterback.” It’s always hard to give up two first-round picks and a Pro Bowl defensive tackle like Kenny Clark, especially paying what the Packers have paid in a contract to Parsons. But especially at 26 years old, and with this transformative power, it’s the exact move that general manager Brian Gutekunst simply couldn’t pass up.
