There have been way too many injury updates for the Dallas Cowboys this season that have been quite unwelcome. From Dak Prescott's season-ending injury to multiple starters spending at least some time on Injured Reserve, it hasn't been their luckiest year on the injury front.
However, head coach Mike McCarthy provided a positive update fans weren't so sure they'd get but that it was massively needed: Zack Martin is nearing his return as he has "best chance of getting back," of the currently injured players. The news certainly makes Thanksgiving weekend taste even sweeter following the team's win over the New York Giants.
Martin, who has suffered multiple ankle injuries this year, last played in Week 11 against the Houston Texans, when he looked in pain and upset, leading to questions about when we'd see him back.
Not only is Martin a fan favorite and a perennial All-Pro that will go down in history as one of the best NFL players ever, but he's admittedly considering retiring after the 2024 NFL season.
Thus, every game we get from Martin carries a little more meaning than usual. In his absence, Cowboys' Brock Hoffman has held down the fort, arguably surprisingly well.
If Martin returns for Week 14, he'll be back on the national spotlight as the Cowboys take on the Cincinnati Bengals on what will be America's Team second Monday Night Football appearance of the year.
McCarthy admitted both DeMarcus Lawrence's and Trevon Diggs' statuses will be up in the air. Additionally, Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan CeeDee Lamb is expected to be fine after he exited Thanksgiving's matchup with a shoulder injury.
