The Dallas Cowboys' defense just got a lot better as they have activated 2023 All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland to the 53-man roster.
In a corresponding move, the Cowboys placed cornerback Amani Oruwariye on injured reserve. Bland was dealing with a foot injury that he suffered this August that is now healed.
His return will be a much-needed one for a Cowboys defense that has struggled both on the field and with injuries. They are also missing star pass rushers DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons.
Last season, Bland was an All-Pro on the outside at cornerback, thriving with Trevon Diggs injured. Not only did Bland lead the National Football League with nine interceptions, he set an NFL record with five pick-sixes. He also batted down 15 passes and finished fifth in the AP Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Will the Cowboys see a noticeable improvement on defense? With the ball skills Bland has, they absolutely should.
