The future of Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa remains blurry as new information emerges.

Since early in the offseason, fans and media members considered Odighizuwa a potential trade asset considering the resources invested at defensive tackle since Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams’ arrivals.

That feeling only grew when reports indicated NFL teams were interested in the standout defensive tackle that just signed an $80 million deal last year. On Wednesday afternoon, however, an additional report suggests Odighizuwa is sticking around. Let’s dive into the fluid situation.

Odighizuwa on the move or not?

Prior to Wednesday, two key reports emerged on Odighizuwa:

  • NFL insider Jonathan Jones (CBS) indicated “Teams are keeping an eye on what Dallas may do with Osa Odighizuwa” and that “teams believe he can now be traded for.”
  • Cowboys insider Nick Harris (FW Star-Telegram) reported the “San Francisco 49ers are among the teams that have made contact with Dallas.”

Naturally, this fueled speculation about a potential Odighizuwa trade. However, a report from the Cincinnati Bengals beat indicates a totally different reality. Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported “there has been no communication with (Odighizuwa’s) side and isn’t likely to be moved.”

What’s next?

It remains unclear. Teams often use the media as a tool in negotiations and it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what’s going on. But as long as there’s outside interest in Odighizuwa, a deal should be possible.

The Cowboys are set to owe Clark, Williams, and Odighizuwa a combined $63.5 million in 2026. Are they really going to commit so much money at DT having so many other needs on defense? It could make sense as DT is currently such a big strength.

But if they receive one strong offer, they’ll be forced to consider it.
