It is no secret so far in 2022. Denver Broncos' quarterback Russell Wilson has not played as well as the team hoped when they made a blockbuster trade for him.
The combo of Wilson and new HC Nathaniel Hackett hasn't worked out five weeks into he season. There is still plenty of time for the Broncos QB and offense to improve, though.
Los Angeles Chargers HC Brandon Staley still believes in the talent of Wilson.
Calling Wilson one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL is probably just Staley stretching the truth to commend this week's opponent for LA.
Wilson has thrown for 1254 yards with just four passing touchdowns so far this season. His completion percentage sits at 59.4%.
The Broncos' QB has three interceptions. He's ran for 74 yards and another TD.
That being said, it shows respect for the veteran QB that is now playing for the Broncos. Staley understands what Wilson has accomplished. He knows that his mobility can be difficult to prepare for on defense.
Keep an eye on how Staley deploys his pass rushers this week. Putting consistent pressure on Wilson quickly can be the key to shutting down the Broncos' offense.
The Broncos face off against the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
