Broncos release RB Chase Edmonds before free agency
The Broncos needed to make this move for 2023.
The Denver Broncos have just released a guy many expected to be back for the 2023 season in running back Chase Edmonds.
This was strictly a cap-saver move, as the Broncos are gearing up to make moves in free agency.
The move saves the Broncos $5.92 million against the cap and will put the Broncos at around $16 million in cap space, which they will need if they want to go and make any moves, per Over the Cap.
Edmonds was traded to Denver in the middle of the 2022 season in a package that sent Bradley Chubb to Miami.
He finished his 2022 season with the Broncos with 125 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards in five games as the backup.
Now the Broncos are one-step closer to having enough cap space to compete for the guys they want.
