The Denver Broncos are coming off a year where they outplayed everyone's expectations for them by landing a spot in the AFC playoffs.

This year, though, the expectations are going to be raised, and we will get to see how they respond this time around. A new A to Z Sports mock draft has the Broncos adding a running back, which they desperately need, but it isn't one of the normal options you see in mock drafts around the league.

Broncos select Ohio State star RB TreVeyon Henderson in a new 2025 NFL mock draft

Ohio State Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson (32) scores a touchdown on a 75-yard touchdown catch and run against Texas Longhorns in the second quarter of the Cotton Bowl Classic during the College Football Playoff semifinal game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on January, 10, 2025.

"This is the joker that Sean Payton has wanted to have in the room for the Broncos. It might be a little high, but Henderson can be used in the same way he maximized Alvin Kamara in New Orleans."

New A to Z Sports mock draft

Anyone who watched Ohio State throughout their National Championship season saw how dynamic TreVeyon Henderson was for the Buckeyes. He had his second-lowest carry total of his collegiate career in 2024 with 144, but had his second-highest rushing season with 1,016 yards, which gave him his best yards per attempt average of his career at 7.1, which led all of the Big Ten.

Some around the league look at Henderson and think he has the complete package. His speed allows him the ability to turn any play into a house call, and he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty by being one of the top pass-blocking RBs in this year's class. The RBs typically thrown around in the first round conversation are Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, and even Henderson's teammate, Quinshon Jenkins. But over the last couple of weeks, Henderson's name has become more and more popular as someone who could sneak into the first round. And I think it's very likely Sean Payton is someone who will have a very high opinion of Henderson.
