The Denver Broncos have more than a few big questions heading into their 2023 training camp.

Last season, we initially thought the Broncos had it all figured out. All they needed was a quarterback. Well, it turns out that the quarterback didn't play well, the coach didn't coach well, and the team couldn't stay healthy at all.

Now, even with Sean Payton at the helm in an attempt to turn a franchise around for the second time in his career, the Broncos are faced with several questions entering training camp. Here are the five burning questions the Broncos:

5. Will Javonte Williams be fully healthy by the end of camp?

Oct. 2, 2022, was not a good day for Williams. Last year, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), lateral collateral ligament (LCL), and posterolateral corner (PLC). Just by reading the injury, I'm sure you can tell it was pretty gruesome. It can take a lot to come back from an injury like the one Williams is tasked to come back from. However, we have gotten some positive updates leading up to camp.

"Our current starter [Williams] is doing extremely well," Sean Payton said in May. "I would tell you that we expect him to be ready for the start of training camp and that's good news. His rehab is going well. I don't want to speak for him or [Vice President of Player Health & Performance] Beau [Lowery] or anyone else, but we get the daily reports. We’re pretty tight-lipped relative to information going out, but I've read a lot and I think his rehab is going well.”

Sure, he may be ready at the start of camp, but will he be doing full contact stiff, team drills, or just individual? And will he be ready to play in Week 1 or even in the preseason?

4. Is Matt Henningsen THE guy at RDE?

2022 wasn't the most impressive rookie year for Henningsen. Then again, he only played 20% of the total defensive snaps, and even then still had a sack and a Pro Football Focus run grade of 70.3. The way a lot of depth chart predictions are starting to look would suggest that Henningsen may be the guy at the right defensive end spot.

But is he ready for that?

Henningsen has never been in the position to be a starter in the NFL. He barely has any experience at all and has big shoes to fill after DeShawn Williams' departure. Eyioma Uwazurike and Elijah Garcia are the backups and could make a push for that starting spot. Honestly, at this moment, it's up for grabs too.

3. Where does rookie LB Drew Sanders fit on the defense?

The Broncos linebacker unit may not have the biggest names, but they are solid from top to bottom. They have guys that not a lot of people know about, but are very good in certain aspects of the game. Alex Singleton is a prime example.

However, they just drafted maybe the best linebacker in the draft in Drew Sanders, who is as versatile as it comes. We know they like Josey Jewell, as they brought him back, and same goes for Jonas Griffith.

Sanders has the talent to be a starter in his rookie year, but where does he fit in between those three linebackers? This training camp could be huge for the rookie. If he outplays two of those guys, he is a starter. Even a role as a rotational linebacker would be great.

2. Can Sean Payton be the one to turn this franchise around?

We may not find out in training camp if Payton can turn this franchise around, but we still have to ask the question heading into one of the biggest training camps in Broncos' history in a while. Paton has completed a task like this before, with the New Orleans Saints.

Before Payton got to New Orleans, the Saints won three games. His first year, he took them to the NFC Championship. Now, he may not do that right away, but watch how he runs his camp. That's a great way to tell if he is the right guy for the job.

1. Is Russell Wilson what he is supposed to be?

Watch for the signs. What does that mean? Well, last season, we didn't think much of it, but during training camp, we heard every day how the defense was dominating the offense. The offense looked bad, but everyone just assumed it was because the defense was so good. No, the offense was just that bad.

Wilson is the head of the offense. It will only go as far as he takes them. If he is bad, the offense is bad. Lets hope Sean Payton can turn him around.

The Broncos need these questions answered. The fans need them answered too, and while most won't be answered right away, they are being asked right now.
