The Denver Broncos have been on fire this offseason, hitting home runs left and right with some major signings.

Sean Payton and co., once free agency opened, immediately brought in some big-name players to help protect Russell Wilson and equipped him with more weapons.  Plus, they added to an already impressive defensive unit.

The signings of Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchey kicked off the free agency period. Payton then brought in Zach Allen, one of the NFL's more underrated signings, on the defensive side of the ball. Additionally, the team brought in arguably one of the best blocking tight ends in Chris Manhertz and added Samaje Perine to the backfield – and that's only naming a few of the moves.

However, one of their most important decisions may very well be the re-signing of one of their own.

Payton and the Broncos' front office were able to re-sign linebacker, and defensive cornerstone, Alex Singleton. Singleton, a quiet leader on the defense, quite literally made history last year.

The talented linebacker had the highest defensive stop rate by any player in a season in nearly six years, something that the front office understood was imperative to bring back to the defense.

While the rest of the NFL may be looking at the moves the front office made to the offensive line, or focusing on what the team may do with their receiving corps, Payton understood the importance of continuity: Singleton was one of the lone bright spots in an otherwise underwhelming season for the Broncos.

Keeping Singleton on this roster is a huge win for not only the locker room but for the overall success of the defensive unit.

It's hard to argue numbers, and that's one thing that Singleton has, dominant numbers at one of the premier positions in the NFL.

Regardless of what happens next, Payton has done an excellent job this offseason. Let's see what else he may have up his sleeve.
