The Denver Broncos are obviously trying to turn things around, as no one wants to be in a place they finished this last season. So many expectations, yet none of them were even close to being met.

This year the expectations are being tempered, mostly because of how bad last season was. But, fans also now understand this is a process, you can't just immediately jump back to the top like they once were in 2015.

But, there is belief now that the process will go faster than what many had originally expected when this offseason first kicked off because the Broncos are moving in a new direction.

In other words, they got their guy.

"You know, it's a great hire, so I can't wait to get to work with him," All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain said. "I just think he's going to provide the tools necessary for us to have a winning culture in the organization. And, you know, his resume speaks for itself. You know, he's a guy that, you know, gives you super bowls and gives you that winning attitude that leadership qualities actually look forward to in a coach and I'm just very excited for what's to come."

Not only will Payton give the team the tools they need to make it back to the playoffs, but he will also have the tools to make this a team people respect once again.

Long, long ago, this was a team and a franchise that people hated playing. They hated going to Mile High because they always knew what to expect in terms of the fans and the team. Now, it's completely different.

Surtain will also see that Payton can bring in the best staff to take both sides of the ball to the next level, especially in terms of what was produced last season.

The Broncos will be in good hands next season and it seems even the players believe that.
