NFL analyst reveals why he thinks rookie quarterback Bo Nix will start for the Broncos in Week 1

For the last eight years, the Denver Broncos have been unable to solve their quarterback situation. They have drafted so many quarterbacks since Peyton Manning in 2015, and time and time again, it has felt like they finally have it figured out, only to let down their fans again and again. We always say this, but this year feels like it could be a bit different.
Bo Nix comes into a tumultuous situation where there really is no bright side, but he comes in with the least expectations compared to his predecessors. With the likes of Trevor Semien, Paxton Lynch, Brett Rypien, Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Lock, and the rest of the cast of quarterbacks that have failed in Denver, the old regime has been filled with nonsensical, incompetent football. That could be due to many reasons, but QB will always be at the forefront of the discussion when it comes to a team's problems.
The Broncos are placing a significant bet on Nix. They have entrusted their quarterback strategy to head coach Sean Payton, often referred to as the 'quarterback whisperer '. Despite his unsuccessful attempt to fix Russell Wilson, the team believes in Payton's ability to develop Nix. With Nix's promising performance at Oregon, especially last year, the Broncos are optimistic about their future quarterback.
The question of Nix's role in the team is a compelling one. Will he secure the starting job in training camp, or will the Broncos opt for a more experienced player, similar to the Kansas City Chiefs' approach with Patrick Mahomes? The possibility of Nix being thrown into the fire and learning on the field is also intriguing. One analyst believes this could be the case, adding to the anticipation surrounding Nix's debut.
The past year has been about Sean Payton proving that he is the smartest man in the league. There were the media barbs at former head coach Nathaniel Hackett and the fallout with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. The organization then used the No. 12 overall selection on the draft's sixth quarterback, Nix, who was not viewed by many as a first-round selection. A social media campaign to justify the selection began in earnest, and it created potentially unfair expectations for the rookie quarterback.
I have no reason to wish ill will toward Payton or Nix. In fact, I hope Nix proves doubters wrong and is wildly successful. However, it can not be overstated how much Payton, who has been lauded for his work with quarterbacks, has riding on the success of Nix. For that reason, it is likely that the rookie will be on the field in Week 1 rather than Jarrett Stidham or Zach Wilson. Projection: Sept. 8 at Seattle Seahawks (Week 1) – Josh Edwards, CBS Sports
The Broncos should just throw Nix into the fire and let him learn as he goes. I'm not sure Zach Wilson or Jarrett Stidham would be better than Nix, even from the get-go. Letting Nix learn from his own mistakes could be really good for him. And, hey, he doesn't have a history of turning the ball over, either, as he has never thrown more than seven interceptions in a season. Last year, he threw 45 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Only time will tell, but the battle to be had in training camp will give us a hint at where things stand.
Denver Broncos legend would prefer rookie quarterback Bo Nix not break one of his insane records
The Broncos wouldn’t want that either.
