Denver Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix is slated for his first-ever NFL playoff game on Sunday, heading to Highmark Stadium to face the No. 2 seeded Buffalo Bills.
Nix lifted the team to its first playoff berth since the 2015 NFL season when Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning led the Broncos to a win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. It's been a quarterback and head coach carousel ever since, but can Nix be the one to get them back to their winning ways in the postseason?
Ahead of Sunday's wild-card round matchup in Buffalo, Manning appeared on "ESPN NFL Countdown" and offered the perfect advice to Nix as he seeks to secure a playoff victory with the odds stacked against him.
The Denver Post's Parker Gabriel shared the excerpt on X (formerly Twitter):
"My advice to him would have been: Go out there and play free. The pressure is on the Buffalo Bills. Nobody gives the seventh seed a chance. So go out and cut it loose."
Manning is absolutely right that Nix and the Broncos can truly adopt the underdog mentality heading into this game. They have no reason not to go into this confident as ever and play loose because no one is giving them a shot to win. The Bills are nearly touchdown favorites over the Broncos at most sportsbooks heading into Sunday's game. Most believe that Buffalo is the best team in the AFC because of the play of their quarterback, Josh Allen.
But Denver should be pretty good about Bo Nix's performance as their quarterback and what he accomplished in his rookie season. He's already defied expectations and the odds, so why not do it again in Buffalo on Sunday?
