The Denver Broncos lost a heartbreaker to the Las Vegas Raiders.
In the contest, Russell Wilson looked like his old self, rather than the disaster that was on the field last season. However, despite that, the team just couldn't squeak out the victory.
To add insult to injury, the already snakebitten team suffered a slew of injuries to top players throughout the contest. TE Greg Dulcich and S Caden Sterns were ruled out almost immediately after suffering their injuries.
Sterns needed to be carted off the field. During which he could be seen banging his helmet and screaming in frustration. At first glance, things didn't look good.
While there was hope it wouldn't be bad, there was just confirmation that Sterns would be missing the rest of the season with a torn patellar tendon. The defensive back, as Ian Rapoport reported, was in line for increased playing time. A crushing blow to the defense.
Sterns is yet another player who has suffered a season-ending injury. First, it was WR Tim Patrick followed closely by LB Jonas Griffith, now Sterns is added to that list.
Denver's defense couldn't get after the quarterback yesterday and they could use all the help they can get. Losing Sterns for the season puts a gaping hole on the roster that the team needs to address immediately.
Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for the young defensive back.
