Patrick Mahomes didn't look like himself and was nursing a reported flu. The Denver defense got after the superstar QB early and often. Forcing turnovers, getting sacks, and just making his life even more miserable.
Before the contest, a bunch of NFL experts went around and picked who they believed would win the contest. To no one's surprise, and we can hardly blame them, not a single expert had the Broncos winning. After the victory, the Denver Broncos social media team called them out without saying a single word.
With an image of Kermit the Frog sipping on some tea with a Broncos logo plastered on it, they shared the image of the experts all picking against the Broncos, seemingly giving the Chiefs a victory before the game even began.
Look, there's a lot more work this team needs to do moving forward, but this was one of the biggest Broncos wins in a few years. From the ineptitude the team had last season, carried over into this year with injuries to boot, things looked bleak and a loss to Kansas City at home could've spurned some major organizational shifts.
Instead, the Broncos are keeping the receipts and calling out anyone who may have doubted them heading into the matchup. Victory Monday has never tasted so sweet.
Denver held on and won the game 24-9, with the crowd loving every second of it. My wife and I were able to go to the game, our first game ever in Denver, and what a game it was to go to. The crowd was electric until even after the game when the team decided to play some Taylor Swift as the Chiefs were exiting the field.
A nice little victory before the bye.
