The Denver Broncos' best player is looking to do something even better than he did last season. Let's face it, while Russell Wilson is supposed to be the best player on the team, it's undoubtedly a third-year cornerback out of the University of Alabama.

Pat Surtain has blown NFL executives, coaches, and now the fans away with what has been a more than impressive start to his short NFL career.

He is entering his third season, and yet, somehow, Surtain is considered one of the two best cornerbacks in the game. He's just 23 years old and is already the cornerstone of the Broncos and their best player.

Not to mention, he's the 21st-best player in the league by Pro Football Focus standards.

21. CB PATRICK SURTAIN II, DENVER BRONCOS Already in the argument for the best cornerback in the game, Surtain is one of the smoothest corners in the league and is rarely panicked by anything on the field. Only Sauce Gardner earned a better overall grade than Surtain's 86.8 last season, and he allowed 25 or fewer receiving yards in 12 games. – Sam Monson, PFF

Every year, most national football media outlets release their top 100 or top 50 players in the league. PFF did, and they ranked Pat Surtain as the 21st-best player in the league and the second-best cornerback in the league, behind Sauce Gardner, who is 18th.

PFF has Surtain above some good players entering the 2023 season. Cooper Kupp, Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Brown, Stefon Diggs, and Tristan Wirfs are a few guys he beat out at that 21 spot.

Surtain still has a lot of room to improve, too, as he will only keep getting better.

"I think he [Surtain] can improve a lot more," Defensive Backs Coach Christian Parker told media last Wednesday. "I think just based on what God's given him from the physical standpoint, his mental ability, and his mental focus, I think the sky's the limit for him. … As well as he's done these first two years, I think he has a lot more he can get out of himself."

That alone should be scary. The Broncos passed on several players in the draft to take Surtain, and we are really starting to see why.
