The Denver Broncos' best player will only get better from here.

The Broncos took a shot when they passed up on quarterback Justin Fields and drafted Patrick Surtain. While their offense could have been better, and they still have quarterback issues, it was the right move.

PS2, as we now call him, which is one of the best nicknames in the league, just finished his second season and is already a Pro Bowler. He is a top-three cornerback in the league too. He is that good.

Guess what? He is only getting better and still has room to grow.

"I think he [Surtain] can improve a lot more," Defensive Backs Coach Christian Parker told media last Wednesday. "I think just based on what God's given him from the physical standpoint, his mental ability, and his mental focus; I think the sky's the limit for him. … As well as he's done these first two years, I think he has a lot more he can get out of himself.

"If anything, I think he understands that he has a target on his back," Parker continued. "So each week, people are going to expect him to give something up or to fail. So I think that actually drives him a little harder. And I think Pat is the rare instance of … he was the number one corner coming out of high school, his dad's an All-Pro player, he was the second corner taken in the draft. He's used to being in that position and having people going for him. So I think he's been able to keep a level head throughout everything and continue to work hard and earn everything he's gotten."

For a guy who locked down almost every opponent he had in 2022, that's some high praise. What does a better PS2 even look like? Sure, there are some things he could do better, but to think about that is pretty crazy, considering how good he is.

The first thing I can think about in terms of Surtain improving is Week 4 against Davante Adams. Surtain had two pass deflections but allowed Adams to have over 100 receiving yards. He could have played better, but even then, against the best receiver in the world, it felt like he was playing every catch extremely well.

If you ask Surtain about improving, that's all he thinks about. He is hungry and ready to show that he is the best.

"I'm just focused on perfecting my craft," Surtain said on June 1, "focused on what I need to do and just be able to work toward team success and do what's best for the team."

This is only going to get scary for the rest of the NFL.
