Broncos' new HC is going to make some changes vs. Chargers

The Denver Broncos played well last week, which is something that hasn't been said a whole lot this season. At just 4-12 on the year, Denver has struggled to show any positives.
However, both times they played the Kansas City Chiefs, they played well, which is surprising. It's surprising because the Chiefs are probably the best team in the league at 13-3, yet Denver has given them fits.
The Chiefs are 15-0 against the Broncos in the last 15 games, but that came close to changing a few different times.
Either way, there is still room to improve. There is a reason they didn't win those games. There is still change to be made, according to the interim head coach.
“Change? Yeah. Yeah. We lost. So we better change something,” Jerry Rosburg said. “We better improve.”
There are a lot of things they could improve on, even the defense. They gave up too many chunk plays, which is just one of the few problems.
For the offense, they couldn't give Wilson enough time to do anything. I don't think he had time to breathe on Sunday against a good Chiefs pass rush.
There is always room to improve, especially with this team, and this offense.
“Yes, Justin [Outten] will continue to call plays,” Rosburg continued. “A lot was going on last week when this was all being put together. A conversation with Justin, Klint [Kubiak], and the offensive coaches was a long process. [Outten] will continue to call plays. Klint will continue to be on the sideline with Russell Wilson.”
I think the way the Broncos had their offense set up in terms of the coaching was good. Outten called the game well, and you could tell that Kubiak was comfortable with Wilson on the sidelines, and vice versa.
But, there is one thing I think should be added to this week's game plan, that they used a little last week.
In my opinion, and I have said this a few times this season, the Broncos should add more designed runs for Wilson. He had two last week, and one went for a touchdown and the other for a first down. Wilson knows how to use his legs, and he showed that on the score as he ran a read option play and kept the ball for six points.
Rosburg got his first one out of the way now, and now he knows what needs to be different.
“I know I’ve had more time, I’ve had a better opportunity to approach this game from a technical standpoint, a schematic standpoint," Rosburg stated. "I’ve watched tape. I’ve seen their players. I understand now better than I did a week ago, what we’re faced with. And I also probably have a better understanding of ourselves having been on the sideline and watched practice from a different context.”
The Broncos can beat the Chargers, it isn't impossible. The Chargers could be resting people as they have already clinched their spot in the postseason.
I'll be interested to see how the coaching goes against another playoff-caliber team with some really good players. This is where Rosburg will make his case for being a head coach next season.
