Chris Manhertz reveals one of his best traits he'll bring to the Broncos
The Broncos signed this guy for a reason.
The Denver Broncos made some moves during free agency, as we all saw them splurge on offensive line pieces. But they also signed tight end Chris Manhertz, who is going to be a great piece to the team in 2023.
But why would Manhertz pick the Broncos, especially when they have several guys in the position that could be pieces of the future? They have Albert Okwuegbunam and Greg Dulcich in the position as well.
"Why not, you know, from top to bottom, I feel like especially having a head coach like Sean Payton and the success he had in the past and, the history of teams he's been with and building a culture," Manhertz said in his open interview. "And the icing on top for me is just the familiarity with him. He was one of my first coaches and one of the first coaches to give me a shot. So it's very exciting."
Dulcich was the star at the position. Not a star in the league, but was for the Broncos, as he was the most productive, even as a rookie. Dulcich quickly became a fan favorite as well due to his play style and beautiful hair.
Okwuegbunam was inactive most of the season, at least the first half of the season for sure, but when his time came he showed up, similar to 2021. He went three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in their second to last game of the season.
Manhertz's stats won't jump off the pages, as you will likely see he only has two touchdowns in eight NFL seasons, but there is so much more that he brings to the table, and he knows that too.
"I know that what I bring to the table as a tight end, I know that, you know, I bring a physical presence in the run game," Manhertz said. "I have the ability to make contributions in the passing game as well. So time will tell what that looks like, but nonetheless, I'm excited about the opportunity."
Broncos fans will love his physicality, mainly because we know the Broncos love to run the ball, and their fans will love to watch that. Manhertz will only help in that aspect too.
