There hasn't been a ton of positive to talk about in terms of the Denver Broncos this season, especially if you're not talking about the defense.

Last week, though, there was one thing in particular that the Broncos did well on the offensive side of the ball. It was the first few drives that really showed progression, even if the rest of the game showed the complete opposite.

The first few drives, and the first one, in particular, were the best the offense has looked all season long. The first drive was the first time this season the Broncos scored on the opening drive.

Before their Week 11 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, head coach Nathaniel Hackett decided to hand over the offensive play-calling duties to Klint Kubiak, the passing game coordinator, and quarterback coach.

The decision made by Hackett shocked a lot of people, and quite frankly became a controversial topic in the football community, and for good reason.

Why would you not give the offensive coordinator, Justin Outten, the play-calling duties?

You would think something like that would offend, or maybe upset Outten, considering in situations like these, that's usually who would start calling plays.

Outten isn't bothered by it.

"Klint [Kubiak] is a proven playcaller," Outten said. "In our situation right now, you just can't move forward with a guy in my position that has not called it in a game."

Kubiak has experience in play calling, as he was the Minnesota Vikings' offensive coordinator (2021) and the quarterbacks' coach (19-20).

The Broncos needed some type of change, and as far as I'm concerned, Kubiak was the right guy. Of Hackett and Outten, we do know Kubiak has more experience than both in terms of calling plays.

I think Outtens' time will come to call plays. Maybe if this thing with Kubiak doesn't work, Outten will get his chance.

From what we saw last week, Kubiak can call plays. It's just about doing it consistently. Sunday will be interesting to see how the offense is called.
